IMS 2026 Wrap-up

July 2026

Once again we attended the International Microwave Symposium Exhibition.  Tihs year i was June 9-11, at the Thomas Mennino Conference center in Boston. It was good weather, high temperature was 85F (29.5C).  One general comment is that Boston is an expensive place to visit, but you can't put a price on a good time, right?  We got to Boston too late to attend the welcome reception, and we did not attend any of the events that require a paid badge, so we can't comment on those events.

This year there was a treasure hunt an the Exhmbiion, where attendees collected stamps from eight suppliers.  One of the those stamps was EverthingRF/Microwaves101, so we met a lot of new people. How did we pull that off?  It's all part of the magic!

Walking the floor, we focussed on important stuff just as much as trivial stuff.  Let's take the tour together!

Compact range?

Here's a table-top compact range by Millitech.  We liked it so much we created a new compact range page

We were a little nosy and asked where the reflector was made, it is a critical componet of teh system.  It turns out it was made at Eravant.  Here is a photo of one of Eravant's other reflectors. Eravant used to be Sage. They seem to be doing really well. Wendy Shu was CEO for the past 14 years during their rapid growth, but has left to pursue other opportunities.  Best of luck!

The "R" word

Most exhibtors know that it is taboo to try to recruit people at a show.  But every year, someone breaks that commandment.. This company was blatant about it...

This company had a booth with nothing in it but a few employees.  Why would anyone want to talk to them?

IMS2027

Next year will be in San Antonio at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, May 23 to 28.  The hotel cost should be 40% of what you might have spent in Boston, but of course you will be in Texas... you get what you pay for.  See you there, maybe. Plan to visit the Alamo, it is a ten minute walk from the show.

istori exhibit

The exhibit being in Boston, Raytheon brought some of their antiques to show off.  Below is a 1500W magnetron used in commercial microwave ovens in teh 1950s.
